Jesse Lee Vargas

(Jesse Lee Steffan-Colucci had two first names and two last names, then she married the love of her life)

Jesse is a New Yorker based on the West Coast working as a Portrait and Fine Art Photographer.  As the daughter of a video and performance artist, her childhood was spent trespassing with film crews, working on public access television shows, and learning how to speak truth to power. She got a full scholarship to a fancy pants prep school in upstate New York and went on to become an art school student in Cleveland before hitching her way westward. Jesse began using photography as her primary medium once she realized she was a crappy painter and has never looked back. Her work is inspired by a long held belief in equality, freedom and justice while it remains focused on cultivating new histories, exposing truths and creating beauty.
